What makes Greenacres Foundation unique?

With locations in Indian Hill, Milford, and Brown County, Greenacres has the ability to offer unique and convenient outdoor day camp experiences throughout the area. Greenacres is dedicated to preserving open and green spaces so our properties are great examples of pristine woodlands, pastures, creeks, streams, etc. Our camps are run by our full-time educators so they are truly experts in their subject matter. They will make learning a fun and memorable experience.

What activities are offered at Greenacres Foundation?

Greenacres truly offers something for everyone. Campers can fish, hike, learn to sing, get inspired for art by nature, learn water science, etc.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

Camps very, a small camp will be in the 1 to 4/5 ratio and a large camp in the 1 to 6/7 ratio.

How much time do the campers spend outside?

Most camps are outside focused. We do have large areas where children can safely spread out in the event of sudden foul weather or to take bathroom breaks. An average camp will be 80% or more outside.

Does the camp provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?

Please see the specific camp you are interested in.

What is the typical daily schedule for campers?

This varies by the camp and the subject matter. Please see our camp guide for a better description of the camp you are interested in.

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?

We use our full-time educators to run camps. This means that they are all 18+ and professionally trained in their subject matter. Many of our educators have backgrounds as teachers and guides and have been working for many years in their field. All Greenacres employees have gone through a thorough background check.

Some camps may have an assistant counselor as part of our “Leaders-in-Training” program. Our Leader-In-Training (LIT) program offers a unique opportunity for 14-17 year olds to develop their leadership skills while sharing their experience and enthusiasm with the next generation of campers. Those accepted into the program will have the opportunity to interact with children, lead activities, pursue their passions, and enjoy time at Greenacres.

What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?

Greenacres Foundation attempts to accommodate campers of many different abilities and needs. Summer Day Camp is typically very active with a large number of transitions and sensory changes throughout the day. Campers are expected to be able to follow directions, rules and expectations independently, to play well with others and to follow safety rules without adult prompts.

For some campers we are able to accommodate and adapt activities to support their special medical needs, and for others, we are not. As we are responsible for the safety and well-being of all participants, it is important that we fully understand the needs of your camper to ensure that participation in our program does not put the camper or staff in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation. We ask that custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) contact us directly in the event a camper may have a particular medical need to ensure that we are able to accommodate.
