Symmes Township Park and Epic Playground

Symmes Township Park near Loveland is the kind of place you’d drive past a hundred times without knowing what’s back there — three playgrounds, a zip line, a fishing pond, walking trails, a bark park, basketball courts, and shelters you can rent for a party. It’s a lot of park for a suburban Hamilton County address.

Three playgrounds, something for every age

The main playground is the showstopper: orange, blue and purple equipment with spinners, climbing nets, a bouncy bridge and a see-through rock wall that means you actually can keep eyes on your kid the whole time. The zip line runs over a large sandpit, so bring the sand toys. Younger kids have wobbly platforms and smaller slides to work with on the same structure. You can cross the whole thing without touching the ground, which will matter a great deal to certain children.

A second playground sits on the other side of the park on a mulch bed with woods on the perimeter. It’s quieter over there, and it connects to the walking trail that loops around the pond. A third play area is near the Deer Run shelter, tucked back along the main trail.

The rest of the park

The 61-acre park has walking trails (paved and dirt), a fishing pond, a baseball field, a basketball court, a small amphitheater and a Little Free Library. The bark park is open April through November. Restrooms are on-site, and there are multiple picnic tables scattered throughout.

Three shelters are available to rent: Leming (seats 80, $200 for residents/$350 for non-residents), Shady Ridge (seats 64, $185/$335) and Deer Run (seats 48, $170/$320). All rentals require a $250 deposit. You can book through Symmes Township’s reservation system.

The park is at 11600 Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140, across from Home of the Brave Park. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
