The Harbor at Sharon Woods has seen its fair share of family enjoyment with water features, a large playset, snack bar, small boat rentals and loads of fun!
Stop by for a picnic next to sabertooth tigers, a wooly mammoth and tiny prehistoric adornments. Here are a few other things to love about The Harbor at Sharon Woods:
Water Play
The Sharon Woods water features run daily during peak season, typically ending in September. The wet playground is home to a perfect sized winding creek for little ones to splash and relax in. A circular fountain spray area keeps the tiny tots and bigger kids happily refreshed as the filtered water sprays high and low.
Artwork
Artworks’ collaboration with Great Parks of Hamilton County extends to Sharon Woods with perfectly placed artistic bike racks. Bring your own bikes on the 2.6 mile family friendly trail or rent one hourly at the boathouse. The trek around scenic Sharon Lake is just flat enough for little legs to explore the wildlife and botanicals.
Recreation
*Due to lake dredging, the boathouse is closed for the 2023 season but personal kayaks/canoes are permitted on the lake. The boathouse remains open into October with staggering close dates. For rent, you’ll find canoes, kayaks, pedal-boats, pontoon, rowboats, motorboats and bikes. The 35 acre lake is perfect for putzing around in a small boat. Bring your fishing poles for catch and release fishing, bait and tackle are available for purchase in the boathouse!
Playground
The Sharon Woods harbor playground is open dawn to dusk with ample seating and tables. While the snack bar is only open weekends from noon-8p, there’s plenty of eateries nearby to bring in your own lunch or dinner. The playground and water features are free to use but you must pay general park admission. Motor vehicle permits are available for purchase daily or annually and support the Great Parks of Hamilton County.
Grab your sunscreen, fresh water for drinking and stop on down at another wonderful one of the Great Parks of Hamilton County. Sharon Woods is also home to an 18 hole golf course, Heritage Village Museum, gorge nature trail and visitor center with gift shop, live wildlife and an indoor playground. Although the Adventure Station Indoor Playground has not reopened this year, we hope to add it to our list of hot spots to cool off at next summer!
