Inwood Park, located at 2308 Vine Street in Mount Auburn is home to incredible play space, Grow Up Great Playground. With ADA features and an area designed with younger children and toddlers in mind, the park has stunning hilly characteristics with a pond, walking trails, two separate playgrounds and a covered picnic shelter.
Opened in fall 2021, Grow Up Great Playground (GUGP) is located on the upper half of Inwood Park by the circle drive. With ADA features, GUGP is the largest play space in all of Cincinnati Parks. Geared towards children ages 2-12, the park is one of a kind for its focus on space for toddlers, young kids and accessibility.
Sitting on 20 acres in the middle of the city, Inwood Park boasts tall trees, dirt and paved trails, rolling hills and was once home to to the Thill Street stone quarry. Perfectly placed benches are located throughout the entire park to sit and enjoy the gorgeous limestone buildings on the property and the abundance of wildlife and plant life. The man-made lake is not open for fishing but is a serene stop on the way to the playgrounds.
The picnic shelter is first come first serve and is nearby the new Grow Up Great Playground, accessible from Wellington Place off of Auburn Avenue. To avoid a steep walk up several flights of steps- check your GPS before visiting. The original play space located off the Vine Street entrance is newer with a bright orange and blue multi-level playground.
Grow Up Great Playground features
Visitors have a no barrier entrance to GUGP which is a requirement for ADA accessibility. The spacious area welcomes everyone to play a musical tune, explore play houses and take a spin on the rotating spinner.
The back half of the playground is not considered ADA accessible because of mulch but has an impressively large climber with bouncy ropes and a lookout tower. Kids (and parents) will have a blast on the fast moving zip line. Swings of all types are the cherry on top of this awesome park.
