Adorable faces of baby lambs, piglets and goats will greet the world with wide open eyes during the Farm Babies event at Parky’s Farm, starting on Mother’s Day weekend, May 13-14, and continuing through August. Guests will have the opportunity to watch farm babies grow up all summer long while they play together, discover their new world and interact with the natural surroundings at Parky’s Farm.
Bow Peep and Mary, a pair of lambs, were first to arrive at the farm in early spring. Parky’s Farm will also be home to baby chicks, ducklings, piglets, goats and a Holstein calf. The babies will take several weeks to acclimate to their new home before meeting the public for the first time on Mother’s Day weekend. Great Parks will also involve the farm babies in educational programming events throughout the summer.
Parky’s Farm is an educational farm of more than 100 acres located in Winton Woods, with animals, orchards, gardens and an outdoor playground. For years, Parky’s Farm has been an excellent source of nature-based recreation and education for diverse audiences, a leading priority shared by the public in the development of the Great Parks Comprehensive Master Plan.
The new babies along with animal encounter programs and activities, will be available on weekends beginning on Saturday, May 13. Open barnyard, wagon and pony rides activities will start on Saturday, May 27, and continue Tuesdays-Saturdays for the remainder of the summer.
