What’s considered an accessible playground?
- An accessible path from the building or parking lot to the edge of the play area.
- An accessible path from the edge of the play area to the play equipment with no curbs or edges.
- Surfacing that complies with ASTM 1951 like turf instead of pea gravel or mulch.
Once a child is in the play area, they must be able to  access the play equipment by either moving out of their mobility device onto the playground structure (such as a transfer station) or by direct play structure access in their mobility device (such as a ramp).
Accessible Features at Crescent Park
The playground is fully accessible, meaning you can move from the parking lot to the playground to play structures with no bumps or curbs. Once inside the playground, children can take their wheelchairs directly onto the rocker, merry go round and multi-level structure.
There are two handicap swings and spinner seats that are low to the ground. The smaller playhouse is wide enough for wheelchair play and includes all friends.
