Cincinnati is so much cooler now than it was when I was a kid. There’s Smale Park. Carol Ann’s Carousel. A streetcar. A PlayScape at the Nature Center.
The best example of Cincinnati’s newfound Cool Kid status, however, can be found in Milford. Pete DeLois’ Recreations Outlet is one of the most awesome places I’ve visited with my kids — and a total hidden gem. It’s located in an old hardware store, one I used to visit as a kid with my parents where the best attraction was the penny candy my mom used to buy for my brothers and I if we were good.
Now, there are trampolines, a basketball court and rows and rows of giant, indoor playground equipment. Recreations Outlet is going to be you and your kids’ absolute favorite place this winter or anytime the weather doesn’t cooperate!
So as soon as we walked in, my kids saw all of the cool playground equipment — and were very eager to try it out! Think of the coolest playground you’ve ever been to — then add trampolines, scooters, several rock walls and every type of slide imaginable. Oh — and put it inside, where you can play all year long. That’s Recreations Outlet.
My kids were in heaven! Mary loved the trampolines and scooters, while little Harvey climbed every ladder he saw. The room is a big, open showroom, so it’s easy to keep track of your kids. (And the squishy gym turf is totally toddler-mom approved!)
With summer break approaching, you’ll definitely want to spend an afternoon or two letting your kids run off all around at Recreations Outlet!
Recreations Outlet is located at 885 OH-28 in Milford. Open play rates vary by day — but if you go on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 9-11 a.m., you’ll pay just $2/child as part of the facility’s Charitable Play program.
